Keep New Zealand Beautiful say that this week it’s time to get your friends, family, school, business, local community or youth group together and be part of New Zealand’s largest movement against litter.
Clean Up Week 2023 runs from 16-22 September, kicking off on World Clean Up Day, a week-long event which takes place every spring.
The Keep New Zealand Beautiful website says that “In 2022, we had over 67,400 volunteers register to take part in 466 clean up events across Aotearoa. Volunteers collected a total of 655 tonnes of waste over an area equivalent to 5,751 rugby fields!”
Whether it’s a corporate or community clean up, Keep New Zealand Beautiful “offer facilitated clean ups and corporate team building events, as well as citizen science programmes that provide Kiwis the opportunity to actively contribute to Aotearoa’s litter solution whilst gaining experience in data collection and analysis.”
The Ministry for Business notes that operational efficiency is centred around waste. “Efficient operations are cost-effective, reducing waste while maintaining quality and service.” While this refers to waste in every sense, tuning your business into green efforts will build teamwork, cohesion, and problem-solving skills, all refocusing business practices under the environmentally conscious umbrella.
Clean New Zealand Beautiful, replacing the keep with clean as part of the initiative, has been tackling litter since 1967.
“It’s still a big part of what we do today. Our clean up events and programmes are a great way to get out and about in your local community and make a difference,” the website says. Visit this site for more: https://www.knzb.org.nz/programmes/clean-new-zealand-beautiful/
